Whether it’s your first time in Bogotá or you’ve been a bunch of times, one thing is for sure – there is always something new to discover – especially when it comes to new, cool, cafes to check out! Something I personally love about living in Bogotá is the food and cafe culture and how there seems to be a never-ending supply of hip spots to visit. Looking for a great cafe to hit up while you’re in town? I’ll give you 9! Here are 9 cafes that I consider to be the best cafes in Bogotá for a nice cup of coffee, a pastry, and a cool, chill atmosphere.
9 of the Best Cafes in Bogotá:
1. Cafe Cultor
Want to learn more about what goes into making a cup of Colombian Joe (or should I say José…) Look no further than Cafe Cultor. Besides the fact that this place is SO adorable with a colorful mural right upon walking into the cafe plus a pretty patio in the back, the baristas will walk you through a coffee tasting and teach you all about the different types of coffee. FYI the tasting will likely be in Spanish so you better freshen up on your Spanish skills first!

2. Les Amis
Les Amis is hands down my favorite cozy corner in Bogotá to grab a homemade french pastry and a latte. Although they might not be particularly known for their coffee per se, they ARE known for their delectable desserts and pastries so if you’re a sweet tooth like me, DO NOT miss this spot. You actually have to press a little button on a gate to get buzzed in, so if you want to feel like a local in the Chico neighborhood, then you’ll have to visit Les Amis 🙂
Location: Cra. 16 #86A-12,
3. Amma
One of the newer spots on the Bogotá cafe/brunch-spot scene, Amma is definitely one to add to your list. From velvet couches to potted plants everywhere you look, to woven chairs and colorful tiles – the decor is gorgeous and reminds me of a cool spot you’d find in Melbourne. Although I ordered a super yummy chai latte, I regretted not ordering a cocktail after watching the bartender whip up some specialty boozy brunch drinks. Order one and thank me later!
Location: Cra. 14 #87-36
4. Azahar
You didn’t experience Bogotá cafe culture if you didn’t hit up Azahar! The original Azahar is located near parque de la 93 where you’ll see a lot of digital nomads typing away while sipping on an Americano, as well as local business(wo)men having a meeting with a client. There’s also a new location on Carerra 9 called Azahar Café Nogal which is way less crowded and has more of an outdoor feel (there is literally outdoor seating where there isn’t at the 93 location.) I tend to prefer Nogal over 93 because it’s less crowded and has better airflow. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

5. Amor Perfecto
This list would absolutely NOT be complete without mentioning Amor Perfecto (or Perfect Love) – it’s the OG of the cafe scene in Bogotá. Not only is the coffee award-winning, but Amor Perfecto is most notably known for bringing a truly high-quality coffee experience to Colombia. Even though Colombia has been recognized for growing some of the best quality coffee in the world for over 200 years, most coffee beverages consumed in Colombia were (and still are) of poor quality because all the high-quality coffee was (is) exported to other countries. There was actually a law in place where Colombian companies were prohibited from buying, roasting, and marketing high-quality beans grown in the country. The founder of Amor Perfector, Luis Fernando, did not think this was right and set out to change the laws and rules and he did in 2003!

6. Colo
I’m a sucker for strong branding, bright colors, and beautiful murals when it comes to cafes, so you can say Colo had me from the get-go! I love their Usaquen location most because of the massive wall mural, how the trees have become a part of the cafe, and because their master roaster roasts all their beans at this location and you can get a sneak peek into the process. Did I mention their coffee is AMAZING? Their tagline is “We are the Diversity of Colombia in a cup of coffee!” which I love.

7. Libertario Coffee Roasters
Libertario is a specialty coffee roaster in Colombia, known to be one of the most sophisticated coffee shops in the world! Besides the fact that their Zona G location is just around the corner from all of the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood, they’ve got a lovely outdoor patio and seriously delicious coffee. I like how Libertario supports a coffee industry that promotes the environmental and social sustainability of the country, and that 3% of their sales go to reforestation initiatives and transformation of coffee crops towards regenerative agriculture.
Location: Cl. 70a #5 – 37, Calle 122 # 17A-56
8. El Altillo
El Altillo Cafe feels like you might be in someone’s backyard garden with antique gardening equipment and random items all over. I love how it kind of feels like a hole-in-the-wall sort of place while also feeling special, unique, and a little romantic. I wouldn’t say the coffee is world-class by any means but it is a perfect spot for a rest in the midst of shopping at the Usaquen Sunday Market (Mercado De Las Pulgas).

9. Tropicalia
Opening just 6 months ago (since writing this post) Tropicalia is a new cafe on the Bogotá scene with one of the most tranquil, cool, and for sure more tropical vibes in the city. The design definitely feels like something you’d see in Bali or Tulum, but with a distinctly Colombian flare. I, of course, had to include it on this list of the best cafes in Bogotá! I purchased a bag of coffee to take home and am excited to try it out.
