Let me start off by saying that I do not believe the world is as scary and dangerous a place (especially for female travelers) that everyone (media, movies, pop culture, etc) makes it out to be. In fact, the entire premise of my blog is to debunk this very myth. HOWEVER, that is not to say that the world is perfectly safe and nothing will ever go wrong. I, unfortunately, have faced my fair share of petty theft throughout my travels (including but not limited to several items stolen in Rome, a hand in my bag in Spain, etc) and so this is why I am a very big proponent of anti-theft travel accessories for female travelers!
It’s honestly that extra peace-of-mind that I need when going solo and I would say it has also reduced my anxiety when wandering off on my own that my belongings will remain to be my belongings.
I have been on the hunt for the best (and cutest) anti-theft items for years, and so below I am sharing some of my favorites – from purses and backpacks to clothing wallets and more, these are some of the best anti-theft travel accessories for female travelers on the market!

1. Arden Cove Anti-Theft Crossbody
After being robbed (several times) in Italy, I am a huge proponent of anti-theft bags. However, when I began my initial search for anti-theft bags, all I could find were grandma-ish looking bags. THEN I came across Arden Cove who is changing the anti-theft bag game!! I mean, LOOK HOW CUTE THIS BAG IS! Bet you would never know that it has:
- full body anti-slash lining
- cut-proof strap
- locking zippers
- RFID protection
- fully waterproof exterior & zippers
It’s basically the ultimate solo-travel crossbody bag and is the PERFECT bag to take out with you dancing or a night out on the town.
(Ps. they also have a new anti-theft travel tote bag that I’m eyeing!)
To buy: Arden Cove, from $115
2. Arden Cove Anti-Theft Carmel Backpack
This little beauty is the perfect combination of versatility and practicality. I mainly wear it as a day backpack when going off to explore for the day, but it also converts into a handbag, shoulder bag, or crossbody. Just like the crossbody, The Carmel Convertible Backpack features anti-slash lining, cut-resistant adjustable straps, locking zippers, fully waterproof, and more. It’s small and light enough to act as a mini-day backpack, but also has enough room for a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, small camera, and any other little accessories you might need for the day. I like the built-in wallet in the front pocket where I also store my phone. In a normal backpack, I would NEVER put my money, credit cards, or cell in the front pocket but with the locking zippers, I am worry-free 🙂
To buy: Arden Cove, from $220
3. Zoppen RDIF-Safe Travel Wallet
The Zoppen Travel Wallet is perfect for boarding passes, passport, cash, and cards all in one place. I can be a spaz (like literally, I have left my passport on the counter when checking in for a flight, dropped my boarding pass on the airport bathroom floor and only realized it was missing when I got to my gate…) so this helps keep me organized and less of a basketcase. It’s also RFID blocking and is made from eco-friendly PU leather.
To buy: amazon, from $14
4. Waypoint Goods Scarf with Secret Hidden Zipper Pocket
Say hello to your new perfect travel companion. This infinity scarf has a secret pocket where you can hide your passport, cash, cards, or whatever you want to safely carry with you to avoid pickpockets. The zipper pocket is virtually invisible, so no one would ever suspect you were carrying anything in the scarf – even when it’s full of stuff! It’s also kind of a genius idea for if you’re going on a walking tour or out to explore and don’t want to carry a purse or bag but also don’t feel comfortable putting items in your pocket (I mean, hello pickpocket opportunity.) There are 15+ beautiful colors and patterns to choose from so go check it out!
To buy: amazon, from $39
5. Clever Travel Companion Secret Pocket Tank Top
So I have to be transparent here – I don’t actually own one of these anti-theft tanks from Clever Travel Companion – YET – but I am so in love with the idea (similar to the scarf) of wearable anti-theft clothing. To me, this is a perfect top to wear on a hike or any sort of outdoor adventure to store your valuables and also for if you’re heading out to explore in a new city and just want to alltogether avoid a pickpocketing scenario. The pocket is pretty discreet and kind of just looks like an athleisurewear zipper detail.
To buy: amazon, from $41
6. KNOK crossbody Phone Strap
I find this crossbody phone strap to be the best product for avoiding putting your phone down on a table or a counter where it can be snatched or you could forget it and then go back to get it and it’s not there (yes this has also happened to me…) It’s kind of like a surefire way of not losing your phone or getting it snatched from your bag while out exploring in my opinion. Oh and pro-tip – it’s also an amazing accessory to have when going horseback riding – you can just hang it around your neck and grab it when you want to snap a pic!
To buy: amazon, from $24
7. LokiStashed Hidden Pocket Scrunchie
This has got to be one of the coolest inventions ever for a solo female traveler! Have you ever been chilling on the beach while solo traveling and felt a little nervous about leaving your stuff on the beach when you go into the ocean? I LOVE how this clever little contraption can secretly hold your money and let’s be honest who is going to want to take a little scrunchie sitting on a towel? This to me is just one of those peace-of-mind items to have and also it’s super cute and looks like scrunchies I use on a regular basis anyway – why not add a little anti-theft benefit?
To buy: amazon, from $9
8. PacSafe Theft-Proof Secret Bra Pocket
This nifty gadget actually clips to the inside of your bra and is pretty amazing for storing cash, cards, and even a small key for a night out while solo traveling. Usually, I would go out at night with the small Arden Cove crossbody (#1 on this list) so that I could bring my phone with me, but if you were leaving your phone behind, this is an amazing anti-theft travel accessory to have handy. It’s also made of soft, breathable, non-itchy lingerie fabric that lies discreetly against the body underneath clothing.
To buy: amazon, from $12
